Raising Financially Wise Kids in a Wealthy World

[ANDY – Opening]
Increasingly, we hear from parents asking: "How do I teach my kids the value of money when they have more than I did?"
There is no denying that it is a real challenge - especially when you have made it possible for you and your family to live a more comfortable life.
The thing is, Financial wisdom isn't about how much you have — it's about what you understand. Those lessons aren't automatic. They have to be taught.
[JENNA – Middle]
Over the years, I've worked with many parents who are seeking to raise children who are grounded, generous, and able to manage wealth wisely.
But how do you get started?
Communicate early and often.
Spending, saving, giving, and earning don't need to be taboo topics. Age-appropriate conversations foster a healthy attitude toward money.
Be the example you want to see.
The way you handle your money speaks louder than any theory you could ever teach. Let them see how generous you are. Let them see your discipline.
You should give them responsibility before they are "ready."
No matter how small the stake today is, whether it's a budget for school shopping or handling a summer job's paycheck, small stakes now will build wisdom in the future.
Remember, as well, that the goal isn't to raise a generation of financial experts but to raise a generation of adults who view money as a tool rather than a measure of their worth.
[TODD – Close]
As a parent, being able to teach your children how to handle wealth well can be one of the most meaningful investments you will ever make for them.
If you would like to discuss how to pass on values —rather than just assets—please Click this link, and let's arrange a time to speak.
