[JENNA – Opening]
Financial planning is easy to put off. Life gets busy. Things feel good enough. Before you know it, another year has passed.
This is something I hear all the time - "We have been meaning to sit down and review everything, but we just haven't gotten to it yet."
However, it's imperative to remember that doing nothing is a decision. And it can be extremely costly in the long run. But you can empower yourself by taking control of your financial future, even in small steps, and regain a sense of control.
[TODD – Middle]
After working with families, business owners, and professionals for 30 years, I have seen firsthand how inaction compounds.
If you fail to take advantage of tax deductions and credits, you may end up paying more in taxes. If you have outgrown your insurance coverage, you may be underinsured in an emergency. A misaligned portfolio can result in suboptimal investment returns. And a plan that fails during a crisis may have been avoided entirely.
The problem isn't always mistakes. It's missed opportunities.
When we don't pay attention, we can lose the chance to protect a legacy, like a family home that could have been saved from foreclosure with proper planning. To give generously, such as missing out on a tax-deductible charitable donation. To retire with more confidence, like not having enough saved for retirement due to not adjusting your savings plan. Opportunities don't show up all at once, but we can lose them all at once if we don't pay attention.
Proactive financial planning is essential for long-term security and success. Being proactive means taking small steps early and consistently, such as reviewing your financial situation regularly, setting specific financial goals like saving for a house or retirement, and adjusting your plans based on changes in your life circumstances, like a new job or a growing family.
Those are the things that make a difference.
